Cheerleading – Summer Family Activity
If you would like to start an activity for children in your community you may want to think about starting a cheerleading team. Cheerleading is a great way to involve youngsters in their community and be active at the same time. Your group can practice together and perform for your local T-ball and Softball teams and at events in your local community. To form your own cheerleading team you will want to decide your own level of expertise. If you are mostly a drill mom, like me, you will not be comfortable with rolling, spinning, the real cheerleading stuff. But I have found that jumping, clapping, and marching in formation and making shapes is fun too. Kids love the cheerleading uniforms cheerleading uniforms so that is your next step. Figure out your teams’ theme and have a fundraiser to get the cheerleading uniforms. By doing a fundraiser the kids who can’t afford a cheerleading uniform won’t be left out and everyone will have a great time. The next step will be to contact your local youth activity groups to find out when they are having games or events. Once you know what your team calendar looks like you will know how complex your marches can be, how elaborate your uniforms should be, and how soon you need to be ready. This is a great and inexpensive, fun activity that both boys and girls can participate in and it is a great way to start socializing and interacting with your community.
