Farha Makes Three
Thursday, July 8th, 2010Online poker pro Sammy Farha won his third WSOP championship bracelet this year when he took down Event # 25, $10,000 Omaha high-low split eight-or-better tournament. He was up against some tough competition too. The heads-up action came down to Farha and James “Flushy” Dempsey, who was hot off his most bracelet win in Event #9 – $1,500 Pot Limit Hold ‘Em.
Farha considers himself to be one of the best Omaha online poker players in the world, and Dempsey was certainly a worthy opponent. In addition to Flushy, there were two other bracelet winners at the final table too — Abe Mosseri and Michael Chow. The heads-up play between Farha and Flushy lasted four hours as they battled to capture the title, bracelet and prize money.
Both of Farha’s previous bracelet wins were for Omaha variations. In 1996 he finished first in the $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha event and won $145,000 for his effort. Ten years later in 2006, he once again had a top win finishing first in the $5,000 Omaha Hi-Lo event.
In addition to his first place wins, Farha has made it to several WSOP final tables, finishing third in the 2002 $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event, and then coming in second to Chris Moneymaker in the Main Event in 2003.
